Charge Description Master Standardization

In order to be paid correctly by Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), hospitals must code and charge the correct procedure(s), the full extent of the procedure(s), and all procedures performed. The challenge is that there are constant changes to CPT® codes and government rules and regulations regarding what is reimbursable. Moreover, hospital pricing is being scrutinized by payers, employers, the government and consumers.

Organizations can have charge description masters (CDMs) which are incomplete, inaccurate, and mismatched to revenue codes. As a result, they can experience a large number of claim rejections, payment delays and and lost revenue. Maintenance of a CDM is time-consuming and complex.

JCS professionals have worked to assist organizations to:

  • Develop processes to improve oversight and management of their CDMs
  • Optimize reimbursement and collections
  • Improve operational efficiency and support compliance

We have experience with leading CDM standardization products such as Accuro and Craneware.
