Evolution Planning
As systems integration projects progress, it is common for
organizations to identify changes they would like to make - either to
the system itself or to their business policies and processes - which
simply cannot be achieved during the project. This may be because
the item is not part of what the project was initially intended to
address (i.e., it is "out of scope"), or the cost of the change is too
great for the organization to bear at the current time, or the change
itself is too complex or far-reaching to be incorporated at the current
time.
Capturing information about these desired changes is the first step
in the evolution planning of your system or business
function. Additional work is then required to analyze the
changes, prepare initial estimates of the work effort involved, and
evaluate impacts and benefits. If multiple changes are involved,
it may also be necessary to determine how these will be packaged
together, and to schedule a series of planned releases or upgrades.
JCS has helped several organizations in evolution planning
and execute the work required to evolve and maintain their systems and
related business processes. Whether your "to do" list is long or
short, simple or highly complex, we can help.
